Oh so in the spirit

Ready or not, it’s here!  And we are definitely in the spirit at Blithe and Vine! Party invites are rolling in, our clients are after that just-right-look for a festive night out, and people are not-quite-yet starting to panic about their Christmas lists.  Relax.  And let us help.  Here are a few of our favorite looks for wardrobes and gifts:

What a cool fun way to show your style this season – leather shorts by Koch. Wear them w a pair of tights, booties, and a top w some sparkle and there you go.  No same-old same-old cocktail party attire for you.

These clutches by Clare Vivier…loving these.  The camel leather is super soft and the streamlined single stripe adds just the right pop of color.  And I’m kind of crazy about the one w the citron stripe.  (Maybe my first ode to Spring ’13 as that will be THE color of the season)

Wrap up in this gorgeous faux fur jacket by Tucker. Imagine what this would do for your go-to black pants!

We all have that person on our list that we just don’t know how to wow.  Well we bet she doesn’t have a Pendleton umbrella.  Truly unique, & who doesn’t need an unexpected pop of style on a rainy day.

Happy shopping!

A few of our favorite things

A few things we are LOVING in the store right now (aside from our updated, fresh look)…

Genetic’s Shya jeans in Candy Stripe. Ummm, dying over these. Red & cream vertical stripes the entire length of the jeans. Kind of rock ‘n roll, Rod Stewart-ish, but in an everyday kind of way. And we see wearing these year-round. Love.

Distressed leather totes from Matta. The brushed effect on the leather is gorgeous, in tan & black options. Big & roomy. Great for travel or daily use. Handles are a great length – you can carry or throw over your shoulder. Love having that option.

Divine cardi/wrap sweater by Obakki. You have snatched up the dresses from this new line, so we’re sure the sweaters won’t last long. Aside from the camel & black silt stripe fabric, the leather trim & waist tie is such a luxurious way to finish it off. This will be one that you can’t get enough of once it’s in your closet.

More Fall faves to come soon!

What a woman: Anita Pallenberg

My all-time favorite band is the Rolling Stones. Love them, love their music.

And after reading Keith Richards book “Life” I realized I also love the women who loved them. Take Anita Pallenberg. Man, what a woman.

She captured the hearts of @ least two Stones, some say three, her most significant relationship being w Keith Richards. She was independent, wild, & gorgeous. And she was chic.

She didn’t have a stylist, she just dressed herself. And she was so cool even Keith admits to borrowing from her closet now & then.

Anita Pallenberg had an enormous influence on one of the greatest rock bands of all times, and unknowingly on all of us, too. We are still copying her look today.

Cheers Anita!

Gotta Go: Dallas

I’m always looking for a good excuse to make a trip to Dallas (aside from the fact that some of my best friends from college still live there…and shopping) and I have found one!  The Chihuly Exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum, through November 5.  The free-standing, large-scale glass sculptures are in more than 15 locations throughout the 66-acre Arboretum.  Check these out…

Are these not amazing?!?!

Searching for flights now…

Don’t be fooled

This tank looks innocent enough here on the hanger.  But don’t be fooled…it’s a sleeper.

It has a twisted racer-back, shirttail hem, and v-neck.  Subtle details that make it really cute, really flattering, and even a little sexy.  We’re all loving it here in the store (should have ordered more).  Add white jeans, heels, and one of our adorable new wood and gold leaf bangles…

and we guarantee you’ll be the cutest one having cocktails on a gorgeous Spring night.  :)

I wonder…

Last month when I was in LA for market, I did a little shopping after the work was done.  I couldn’t resist these shorts by Kelly Wearstler.

Even though Spring had sprung and these are dark (almost Fall) colors, I thought they would be a great neutral.  The subtle pattern/wash is just beautiful…

and I came up w a million things already in my closet that I could pair w them…a white Tucker blouse and wedges…bright pink and coral Antik Batik cardi…Lola tees by Koch w flip flops.  I had to have them.

Then the next day my husband flew out w our boys and we spent the rest of the week in La Jolla.  One morning when I was running on the beach, I stopped in my tracks.  I couldn’t believe how beautiful the beach was.  The actual beach.  The sand.

The criss-cross pattern of the dark sand and the light, the way the thin veil of water made it glisten.  It was really unique and beautiful and I hadn’t seen anything like it before.  And then I started to wonder…is this where Miss Wearstler got her inspriration for the fabric of those shorts???

Travel notes

What a Spring it has been!  Lots of travel…lots.  I’m so glad to be home and back to what I call normal crazy (kids, store, husband, activities, friends, etc) as opposed to the overdrive crazy that was my mid-February through late March.  Taking 4+ trips in six weeks time takes its toll.  But lots of fun was had nonetheless.  :)   A few highlights:

Markets in NYC and LA for Fall ’12 were amazing.  Right here in the heart of Spring I’m soooo excited for Fall, I can hardly stand it.  Found several new lines that are going to be great additions to our favorites that we go back to each season.

This is a piece from a new jewelry line that I fell in love with!  The use of natural wood and gold leafing is gorgeous.

And how cute are these beaded pieces?!?!  They will brighten up basic sweaters and jeans for Fall.

I found myself drawn to all things leopard at market so we will have several pieces this Fall.  Check out this sleek clutch by Clare Vivier, a new line for us.

Tucker continues to deliver.  This pink deer print on a black blouse…cute cute cute.  Show your man you really do support his outdoorsy side by wearing this on date night.  ;)

And Antik Batik never disappoints.  Aren’t we always looking for a little sparkle around the holidays?  This will be darling w dressy black pants or winter white jeans.

It’s tough to say which Koch pieces were our favorites, but these leather shorts and chunky sweater are way up there.

Cannot WAIT for you to see these Mother jeans.  Just a tease but trust me, they are amazing.

And we’re super excited about this perfect black suede bootie.  Simple and stylish, average heel height.  Keep your eyes out for their arrival this Fall because we are certain they’ll go fast.

We love these umbrellas by Pendleton!  And wouldn’t they be such creative gifts?!?!

Next up…Spring Break w the fam in La Jolla was a trip we’ll remember forever.  My husband flew out w the boys to meet me after LA market (yes, he gets major points for flying cross country w three young children!).  The chilly weather didn’t slow us down, and the boys would definitely say the best part was Legoland.

But posing w the shark teeth was a close second…

And this was in Dallas for the opening of the first KochShop in Cabana.  Designer Nicole Musselman and I on the way to the launch party…way to go Koch!

Much more I could share but just wanted to give you a taste of what I’ve been up to.  We are now in the swing of Spring and it is so much fun!  Things have been super busy here at the store and we are loving helping all of you look your best for every occasion.  Come see us and remember…life is short, dress cute.

The body.

No wonder they call her “the body.”

Elle MacPherson looks better at 47 than I have ever looked in my life.  Good inspiration.  She’s an all-time favorite of mine.  And she’s still going…check her out on the upcoming reality show “Fashion Star,” airing in March on NBC.  It will be a behind the scenes reality show about what it takes to get a brand in stores.

Rose gold rolls on

We’re thrilled to see that Departures Magazine (one of our absolute favorites!) agrees with our assessment of the current worldwide love affair with rose gold.  Departures “Rose Gold” article in their Jan/Feb 2012 issue concurs with Blithe Spirit’s December 9 post ”Rose Gold Moment”.  Have you added any to your jewelry box?!?!
